Color PVC foam board uses pigment compounded directly into the PVC resin before extrusion — the color runs through the full board thickness from face to face. This is different from painted or coated board where a surface layer can chip or peel. Because the pigment is inside the material, cut edges show the same consistent color as the face, and there is nothing to chip or scratch off the surface.

Yes. Standard color PVC foam board is UV-stable for most outdoor applications. For prolonged high-intensity UV exposure in tropical or desert climates, specify the Anti-UV grade which incorporates additional UV stabilizers. The color is in the bulk material — there is no surface coating to degrade. Water absorption is less than 0.5%, so moisture does not affect the color.
Yes. Free foam grade color PVC board accepts UV, solvent, and eco-solvent large-format inks directly. For over-printing on colored boards (e.g. adding graphics to a colored background), UV flatbed printing works well. Note that darker board colors require higher ink opacity to achieve desired print results.
Color-through PVC foam board has pigment throughout the full thickness — edges cut from the board show the same color as the face. Painted PVC board has a surface paint or coating that can chip, scratch, or peel, especially at cut edges. Color-through boards require no edge treatment, have consistent appearance on all faces and edges, and maintain their color even if the surface is lightly abraded.
