Six steps to a professional finish — no edge banding machine required.
Ensure the panel edge is clean, dry, and free from dust or old adhesive. Sand lightly with 120-grit if needed. A clean edge ensures maximum adhesion.
Cut the pre-glued banding 30–50mm longer than the edge. This overhang will be trimmed after bonding. Use sharp scissors or a utility knife for a clean cut.
Center the banding on the edge, adhesive side down. Press with a household iron at medium-high (140–160°C) moving slowly — 3–5 seconds per 10cm to activate the hot melt adhesive.
Immediately after ironing, press firmly along the full length using a J-roller, wooden block, or damp cloth. Firm pressure while warm ensures full adhesive contact across the edge.
Leave for 60 seconds without disturbing. EVA hot melt adhesive reaches full bond strength on cooling. Do not flex or stress the bond while still warm.
Trim overhanging ends with a sharp trimming knife. Trim the top and bottom overhang flush using a trimming knife held at 45°, a flush-trim router bit, or a dedicated edge trimmer tool.

Replace damaged or peeling edge banding on cabinets, shelves, and furniture without specialist equipment — just a household iron.
Workshops producing custom or one-off pieces where the volume does not justify an edge banding machine investment.
Furniture designers and showroom teams who need to produce quick samples with finished edges before committing to production.
Kitchen and furniture renovation contractors who need to match and replace edge banding on-site without bringing machinery.
Hardware stores and timber merchants supplying DIY customers. Pre-glued banding in short rolls for retail packaging.
Exhibition stand builders and display manufacturers producing short-run bespoke pieces where speed and portability matter.
Pre-glued (iron-on) PVC edge banding has EVA hot melt adhesive already applied to the back surface during manufacturing. Standard edge banding has no adhesive — it requires an edge banding machine that melts adhesive from a separate glue pot and applies the band under controlled heat and pressure. Pre-glued can be applied with a household iron, making it accessible for DIY, repair, and small-batch work without machinery.
Set your iron to medium-high — approximately 140–160°C (wool/cotton setting on most irons). Move slowly along the edge, approximately 3–5 seconds per 10cm. Immediately press the banding firmly with a roller or cloth while still warm. Avoid temperatures above 180°C which can distort the PVC. For 1mm and 2mm thicker grades, a second slow pass may improve adhesion.
Yes. When applied correctly with adequate heat and pressure, EVA hot melt adhesive creates a permanent bond to MDF, chipboard, plywood, and solid wood. The bond reaches full strength within 60 seconds of cooling. The bonded edge banding will not peel under normal furniture use conditions — the same EVA adhesive chemistry is used in professional edge banding machines.
Yes. Pre-glued PVC edge banding bonds well to MDF (medium density fibreboard), chipboard (particleboard), and plywood — the most common panel substrates. Ensure the panel edge is clean and free from loose particles before application. Sanding the MDF edge lightly with 120-grit improves adhesion on very smooth factory-cut edges.
Pre-glued PVC edge banding is available in all JINYOU edge banding finishes: solid color (1,000+ colors), wood grain decors (oak, walnut, wenge, beech, teak, etc.), super matte (<5 GU), high gloss (85–95+ GU), satin, and metallic finishes. The pre-glued adhesive coating is applied to the back of any finish. Submit your board sample or decor reference for a matching pre-glued edge banding sample.
MOQ for pre-glued PVC edge banding is 500m per color and thickness — the same as standard edge banding. For retail or distribution customers requiring shorter rolls (5m, 10m, 50m), JINYOU supplies pre-cut retail rolls for resale. Contact us for retail packaging and pricing options.
